Karsan e-Jest buses in Canada

Turkey-based Karsan has introduced its electric minibus the e-Jest to Canada.

Six e-Jest buses have been delivered to the city of Saint John in Canada under a distributor agreement with Damera Bus Sales Canada Corporation, a subsidiary of Mississauga Bus Group of Companies.

Karsan says it’s an important step in its goal to become a global brand.

“Thanks to this delivery, we have strongly entered the North American market,” says Karsan chief executive Okan Baş.

“Having achieved the market leadership in Europe for the two consecutive years, e-Jest has begun to gain important ground in this market as the North America’s first electric minibus,” he explains.

“Karsan’s Autonomous e-Atak model which has been operating in Michigan State University, was also the first and only Level-4 driverless bus of the United States carrying passengers in real road conditions.”

Baş says e-Jest deliveries will continue for different Canadian cities.

Karsan manages the entire automotive value chain, from research and development to production, from marketing to sales and after-sales activities, and produces Jest, Atak and Star models and sells the fully electric e-Jest and e-Atak models under cooperation with BMW.

The Level 4 driverless bus Autonomous e-Atak model, the fully electric 10-12-18 metre e-Ata buses, the 12m e-Ata Hydrogen, and Megane sedans for the Renault brand are among its offerings.
