Jaguar TCS Racing driver Mitch Evans of New Zealand will be hoping for better things in the fifth round of the ABB FIA Formula E series in Cape Town on February 25 after being taken out in the India event by team-mate Sam Bird.

Bird has taken responsibility for “destroying” the Jaguar team’s race by colliding with Evans, the incident forcing out both Jaguar I-Type 6 cars in Hyderabad.

The India event was won by Jean-Eric Vergne for DS Penske, while Kiwi Envision Racing driver Nick Cassidy was second and Tag Heuer Porsche driver Antonio Felix da Costa came third.

Bird reportedly locked up his race car while challenging for fourth at the hairpin and swiped Evans who was third at that stage after starting in pole position.
