BYD sold more EVs than Tesla last year
Chinese automotive manufacturer BYD had record deliveries in 2022, helping profits rise 400%.
It sold more cars in 2022 than in the previous four years combined, says InsideEVs adding BYD sold 1.86 million EVs and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) last year.
”The automaker was also responsible for 30% of all new energy vehicle sales in China for the year.”
InsideEVs says about half of the vehicles BYD sold in 2022 were fully electric cars.
“Meanwhile, Tesla delivered 1.31 million fully electric cars across the globe, so more than BYD’s EVs, but much fewer than the Chinese rival’s new energy vehicle sales in total.”
Tesla has cut some EV prices further and is expected to report financial details for the first quarter of this year on April 19.
