Tesla cans Model S for right-hand drive markets
Tesla has told local customers holding an order for a new right-hand drive Model S that it is no longer able to fulfil it and the order will be cancelled and any deposits or payments made will be refunded in full.
The move comes two weeks after the ability to order an S or X was pulled from the Tesla website.
In a message seen by this publication, Tesla says due to a change in the vehicle program the Model S will no longer be available in right-hand drive.
Tesla says it understands this is disappointing news and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Some media, including EVs and Beyond, had predicted the larger Teslas would drop RHD support, with Tesla struggling to meet demand in the US, the only place where the vehicles are manufactured.
The 3 and Y are produced in multiple locations around the world, with New Zealand cars sourced from China.
