Big Boys Toys back next year

Big Boys Toys’ home for about 25 years the Auckland Showgrounds (formerly the ASB Showgrounds) at Greenlane has secured a new five-year lease through to 2028.

“This is undoubtedly a significant victory for the events industry and a relief for countless organisers and attendees in Auckland. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to New Zealand Exhibition and Events Co (NZEEC) for securing this important lease,” says Big Boys Toys which previously ran “Electric Avenue” for EVs as part of its event and has included electric bikes and e-scooters.

However, the news has come too late for Big Boys Toys this year with insufficient time to prepare so it’s now looking to the next one.

“In light of the constrained time frame, it is regrettably unfeasible for us to deliver the world-class event experience that embodies the spirit of Big Boys Toys.

“We express our sincere apologies to all our exhibitors, sponsors, and partners, who have been eagerly anticipating this year’s event. Your unwavering support and enthusiasm are truly invaluable to us.

“Rest assured, we remain committed to working tirelessly to ensure that the next edition of Big Boys Toys, when it comes, will be nothing short of spectacular.”

BBT was postponed in 2021 and last year, mainly due to uncertainties around COVID-19 and then the showgrounds’ future.
