Ford working on low-cost EV platform
A Ford “skunkworks” team has been working on a low-cost EV platform for two years.
That’s what Ford chief executive Jim Farley told investors during the company’s fourth-quarter and full-year earnings call, says InsideEVs.
“They’ve developed a flexible platform that will not only deploy to several types of vehicles but will be a large install base for software and services,” he reportedly said.
Ford is adjusting its spending to focus more on smaller EVs, Farley explained.
He says all Ford EV teams are focused on cost and efficiency, especially with an affordable Tesla on the way and Chinese EV manufacturers entering the global market.
