Nissan Leaf at new price and Ariya NZ launch delay continues
Nissan New Zealand says it continues to withhold the launch of its Ariya EV here “due to the volatility” in the New Zealand EV market.
“Further announcements will be made when available,” the brand says.
The Nissan Ariya’s release here was earlier delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and semi-conductor shortages.
The EV recently featured in the Pole-to-Pole expedition and one was also brought in by Drive EV in July 2022.
Meanwhile, Nissan New Zealand says the earlier Nissan Leaf has approached the end of its life cycle in Oceania after about 13 years of success.
It reported last year that production would gradually phase out at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland in the United Kingdom by the end of fiscal year 2023 (FY23) with Australian and New Zealand customers able to place orders until vehicle stocks ran out.
Nissan New Zealand says it is running its popular Leaf pre-registration sale nationwide with a $29,990 driveaway price point.
“Dove-tailing the official statement about Leaf in Oceania, customers can place orders on these until vehicle stocks run out.”
New Leaf pricing is $29,990 plus on road costs (ORC) for the 40kWh version and $36,990 plus ORC for the 59kWh Leaf e+ version.
Nissan dealers are advertising the Leaf at the new price with Nissan New Zealand saying it’s a run-out offer while stocks last.
