Porsche 99X Electric revealed for new ABB FE season

Porsche 99X Electric for ABB FE new season 11

Porsche has presented its Formula E car for the next two seasons – the Porsche 99X Electric.

The electric open-wheel racer complies with the regulations for the GEN3 Evo, says Porsche.

The new Porsche 99X Electric features in a film with Bruno Correia, the Formula E safety car driver and GEN3 Evo development driver.

Key technical innovations comprise activation of the drive on the front wheels, higher grip tyres (Hankook), and a modified front wing.

World Champion Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa, last season’s driver with the most wins, retain their positions in the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team.

The two Andretti Formula E customer cars will have former World Champion Jake Dennis and the new Porsche works driver Nico Müller at the wheel.

Components developed by the manufacturer were allowed to be changed for the GEN3 Evo.

Porsche’s development department in Weissach used the optimisation potential identified over the past two seasons – particularly in terms of drive.

The fourth car generation, GEN4, is set to be introduced for Season 13 (2026/2027), with lessons learned from both updates benefitting Porsche’s road cars.

The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team and Andretti Formula E will participate in Formula E’s official pre-season testing in Valencia, Spain (November 4-7).

The Porsche 99X Electric (GEN3 Evo) has 300kW power in normal operation and 350kW for “Attack Mode” and qualifying duels, uses rear drive for normal operation and all-wheel-drive (AWD) for Attack Mode, qualifying duels and race starts, can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in two seconds, has up to 600kW recuperation power (brake energy recovery with up to 250kW electric braking power on the front axle and up to 350kW on the rear axle), additional deceleration through friction brakes on the front axle (“Brake by Wire” system), friction brakes on the rear axle only active in an emergency (if recuperation fails), profiled Hankook iON Race tyres for dry and wet conditions (two sets per race weekend and per vehicle (three for double headers), a lithium-ion battery with 38.5kWh usable storage capacity, a Combined Charging System (CCS) with extremely fast charging (up to 600kW), an 862kg combined weight (including driver), 5016mm long, 1700mm wide, 1023mm, a 2970mm wheelbase, and up to 65mm ground clearance.

Porsche contests its sixth Formula E season in 2024/2025.
