Female drivers finish Porsche 99X Electric testing
Gabriela Jílkova (29) and Marta García (24) did the final laps with the new Porsche 99X Electric before the 11th ABB Formula E season starts in Brazil on December 7.
They took on the final of seven three-hour sessions in the official pre-season testing for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team after pre-season testing was moved to Jarama near Madrid due to the Valencia flood disaster.
The Czech and the Spaniard took the wheel of World Champion Pascal Wehrlein and fellow works driver António Félix da Costa’s cars after the two regular drivers did their test drives.
About 18 female drivers from 11 teams were in Jarama, including Swiss national Simona de Silvestro representing Porsche Motorsport for the Kiro Race Co team.
The new look Porsche 99X Electric is linked to the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which is also the Formula E safety car.
The Porsche customer team Andretti Formula E with former World Champion Jake Dennis and the new Porsche works driver Nico Müller will also be competing with two new Porsche 99X Electric race cars.
Pascal Wehrlein says the test went well.
“We made a lot of progress, especially with regard to the new features such as the all-wheel drive and the Hankook tyres, which provide significantly more performance,” he says.
“In the simulated race on Thursday, we were able to test the new ‘Pit Boost’, which is the pit stop for a quick battery charge. That went without any problems and, above all, gave us strategic insights.”
Porsche contests its sixth Formula E season in 2024/2025.
