Tesla Model Y the best car for dog owners, study finds
A new study has revealed the Tesla Model Y as the best car for dog owners.
it’s the only EV among the 10 most dog friendly cars and scores top (86.23 out of 100) when it comes to offering pets a comfortable ride, while also the only vehicle with ‘Dog Mode’ allowing owners to turn on air conditioning when parked up, keeping dogs warm or cool if they leave them for short spells.
The Model Y offers drivers the ability to check on their pets with its interior cabin camera, says leasing company LeaseCar which considered trunk size, off-road ability, trunk sill height and additional features.
It says the Tesla Model Y offers 854 litres of boot space and low boot sill to ground height.
The research comes as almost half (45.5%) of US households now own at least one dog, prompting many drivers to consider ‘pup-grading’ their vehicle.
A study by the University of Lincoln in England found that EVs offer a smoother ride for dogs, revealing 66% of dogs showed a decreasing heart rate, indicating they were more relaxed and didn’t feel as nauseous when travelling in an EV compared to an internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.
