Caterham presents concept EV sports coupe at 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon

ABritish sports car manufacturer Caterham presented Project V, its all-electric lightweight concept car developed with Taiwan battery manufacturer Xing Mobility, at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.

VT Holdings, one of Japan’s largest retail groups, owns Caterham and has been an importer of the brand since 2009.

Renowned for its lightweight design and driving experience, Caterham takes its legacy to a new level with the latest Project V. One of the key innovations in this electric concept car is its advanced battery system, powered by XING Mobility’s IMMERSIO CTP (cell-to-pack) technology. Tailored to meet the compact design requirements of sports cars, this system delivers the following key advantages:

 • Lightweight design: By eliminating traditional module structures, the CTP architecture significantly reduces weight while increasing energy density.

 • High performance: Stable thermal management ensures optimal performance during high-speed and extreme driving conditions.

 • Flexibility: The CTP battery pack’s flexible design enables optimised weight distribution, enhancing vehicle dynamics and handling performance.

 • Safety: The immersion-cooling technology provides enhanced thermal runaway protection, meeting the most stringent safety requirements for high-performance sports car applications.

Project V

Since its debut at the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2023, Project V has garnered global attention from automotive enthusiasts with its innovative design and performance capabilities. Its presence at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon represents another milestone in Caterham’s electric transition journey. The partnership between Caterham and XING Mobility demonstrates their shared commitment to innovation and sustainability and highlights the boundless potential of electric sports cars.

Caterham welcomes visitors to explore Project V up close at booth No. 703 in East Hall 7, where they can experience the pioneering design features powered by XING Mobility’s advanced battery technologies.

Multiple Caterham racing championships are held in France and Iberia. Since 1995, the Caterham Academy, the entry-level racing series, has seen more than 1,300 novice drivers become fully Bonafide racing drivers.
