Skoda starts new Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe production

Skoda Enyaq production

Skoda Auto as started production of the electric new Enyaq family at its Mlada Boleslav plant in the Czech Republic.

The Enyaq EV rolls off the same production line as the Elroq and Octavia, enabling rapid adaptation to changing market demands, the company says.

The new Enyaq family features new Tech-Deck Face, offers enhanced standard equipment and innovative and sustainable materials.

Its predecessor was delivered to more than 250,000 customers worldwide.

The new Enyaq has enhanced aerodynamics for an extended range, sustainable materials in the interior and new digital features.

The production line has an average daily output of up to 300 Enyaq family models.

In addition to assembling the new Elroq and new Enyaq, the Mladá Boleslav plant also manufactures battery systems for these modular electric toolkit (MEB)-based vehicles, says Skoda.

The traction batteries produced there are also installed in electric models from other Volkswagen Group brands.

The successor to Skoda’s first all-electric production model is available with two battery sizes and three powertrain options, delivering outputs between 150kW and 210kW.

The Enyaq 60 and Enyaq 85 feature a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive, while the Enyaq 85x adds a second electric motor at the front for all-wheel drive.

A range of aerodynamic enhancements (including optimised air curtains, newly designed wheels, and a sealed gap between the radiator and grille) allows a drag coefficient as low as 0.245 for the Enyaq and 0.225 for the Enyaq Coupe, resulting in more than 590km (WLTP) range for the new Enyaq Coupe and more than 580km for the new Enyaq, says Skoda.

The new Enyaq has more generous standard equipment, including heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, KESSY Advanced with open-on-approach and walk-away locking, three-zone Climatronic, side assist, predictive adaptive cruise control (pACC), and traffic jam assist.

New digital features include remote park assist and remote trained parking, says Skoda.

Customers can choose from six interior designs.

Meanwhile, reports suggest about 6000 jobs could go as Skoda makes cuts to maintain its EV rollout, a German automotive news outlet says.
