GAC discounts put Lux versions at base-model prices
GAC’s latest offers bring the Aion UT Lux, Aion V Lux and M8 Lux down to the list price of each base model.
GAC New Zealand’s latest discounts mean buyers of its Aion UT, Aion V and M8 can get the top-spec Lux version of each for the recommended retail price of the base model.
The cuts are $4000 on the Aion UT hatchback and M8 plug-in hybrid people mover, and $2000 on the Aion V SUV. All prices below are before on-road costs.
The Aion UT offer has the shortest run, ending on 31 October. It takes the base car from $39,990 to $35,990, and the Lux from $43,990 to $39,990, the base model’s list price and the price it launched at in May.

Both Aion UT versions use a 60kWh battery for a WLTP range of 430km, and a 150kW motor. The Lux adds equipment including power-folding mirrors and a panoramic roof. GAC has also confirmed a cheaper short-range Aion UT for Australia, and GAC NZ has not ruled it out for New Zealand.

The Aion V discount runs until 30 November, cutting the base car from $49,990 to $47,990 and the Lux from $51,990 to $49,990. The Lux adds genuine leather and massaging front seats. Both have a 75kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to 510km. Our review of the Aion V Luxe called it a new sub-$50,000 benchmark.

The M8 also has until 30 November. The base car drops from $85,990 to $81,990, and the M8 Lux from $89,990 to $85,990.

GAC’s petrol Emzoom has $2000 off until 30 November, taking it from $31,990 to $29,990.

GAC promotes the $4000 deals as cashback, but its terms say the discount comes off the purchase price at the time of sale. Cars must be bought and registered by the offer end date, the offers are for retail buyers only, excluding demonstrator, fleet, government and rental sales, and they cannot be combined with other offers.
