Audi adds EVs – everywhere

Audi plans to electrify its line-up – and after the diesel emissions scandal, it seems a clever tactic.

Although cynics may eye chief executive Rupert Stadler’s announcement at Audi’s annual general meeting last week that “another electrified car each year” would roll out from 2018.

Audi’s long-awaited all-electric compact utility vehicle – first appearing at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show – could be one of the first off the line, according to Autoblog.

The E-Tron Quattro Concept would reportedly be produced in its Brussels, Belgium factory. Its batteries, expects Audi would be capable of the 310km range promised with the concept.

With BMW making silent but significant inroads into electric motoring, it’d help Audi stop its rival marching away with the market. A3, A4 – even the large A8 – are capable of being repowered, and another variant across popular ranges would help cover the downfall of diesel.
