Audi opens orders for A2 EV ahead of mid-2027 launch

Audi New Zealand has opened orders for its upcoming A2 electric vehicle, ahead of its expected local arrival in mid-2027.

Customers can now register their interest through Audi dealers or via the company’s website.

Full pricing and specifications will be announced closer to launch, but Audi has confirmed the New Zealand model will be powered by a 61kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery paired with a 140kW electric motor.

The manufacturer says the A2 is its most aerodynamically efficient model to date, with a drag coefficient of 0.24.

Audi has quoted preliminary energy consumption of 12.8kWh/100km, which it says has been achieved through the use of silicon carbide semiconductors, thinner motor laminations to reduce iron losses and a new low-friction transmission oil.

Based on Audi’s quoted energy consumption and battery capacity, the A2 is expected to deliver a driving range of about 470km on a full charge.

Audi also says the A2 has been engineered to support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality, although it is yet to confirm whether those features will be available on New Zealand models.
