AusEV parent company BossCap enters receivership
BossCap Group, the parent company of electric vehicle converter AusEV and Australia’s first all-electric vehicle upfitter, has been placed into receivership following what the company claims was a sudden change in Ford’s global production strategy that undermined its business model.
The Brisbane-based company was placed into receivership on 17 March 2026, with all operations suspended while receivers undertake an assessment of the business.
BossCap had built a reputation as one of Australia’s leading vehicle engineering and advanced manufacturing businesses, developing and delivering what it says was the country’s first right-hand-drive electric fleet ute by bringing the Ford F-150 Lightning to the Australian market through its AusEV division.
Customer impact
The receivership means BossCap is unable to undertake warranty repair works at this stage.
The company invested heavily in engineering capability, compliance, and local manufacturing to support this rollout, working closely with fleet customers, financiers, and supply chain partners.
However, Ford’s production strategy change materially impacted the availability of the underlying platform the business relied on, according to a statement from the company’s AusEV division.
“This decision was outside BOSSCAP’s control,” the statement said, adding that it had removed the “foundation of future supply and significantly disrupted the company’s forward pipeline” despite “strong market interest and growing sales momentum”.
Administration appointments
Mark Holland and Anthony Connelly of McGrathNicol were appointed receivers and managers, while Declan Lane of Helios Advisory was appointed as voluntary administrator of BossCap Group and liquidator to all of its subsidiaries.
“At this time it appears unlikely that the company will continue trading after an orderly wind down by the receivers,” Lane said.
Holland confirmed receivers were undertaking “urgent appraisal of operations and electric vehicle sales”, with further information to be provided to customers and stakeholders shortly.
Recent projects and achievements
BossCap had been expanding beyond Ford conversions, announcing in July 2025 that it would adapt Tesla’s Model Y to make the electric vehicle (EV) compliant for use in the mining industry.
In May 2025, the company achieved what it called a “breakthrough” of producing the first-ever fully electric, 4×4 mining ute re-manufactured in Australia.
“With Labor reaffirming its commitment to net zero and a more aggressive Safeguard Mechanism, mining operators have a clear choice: evolve or fall behind. Our electric ute gives them a practical, compliant, and future-proof path forward,” BossCap Group chief executive Edward Kocwa said at the time.
Established in 2012, BossCap initially started as a vehicle import company but later expanded into engineering and manufacturing. As the parent company of AusEV and Advanced Manufacturing Queensland, it specialised in converting left-hand drive electric vehicles to right-hand drive for the Australian market.
