Baby Bimmer gets big long legs
BMW’s stylish little i3 electric city car will get half as much range again under new specs.
The i3s with long-anticipated range improvements will be rolling on Euro streets within three months.
Theoretically, the new battery will join the current Li-ion one – although BMW is yet to categorically say either way.

This would mean that between the BEV (battery-only) model, which BMW New Zealand does not list, and the REx (battery with petrol range extender), and the two battery options, there could potentially be four i3 models offered in some markets.
And will the leggy new i3 get a slightly bigger tank to help the overall range along?
There still appears to be more questions than answers, but there’s no doubt that the i3 – and its beautiful iSupercar stablemate – are two of the more exciting models to roll into the electric vehicle arena recently.
