BP Charge Gigahub opens in Christchurch
BP Charge Gigahub has opened at Christchurch Airport with 12 fast EV charge points using Tritium chargers of up to 150kW.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon joined BP New Zealand country head Haley Mahoney, Christchurch Airport chief executive Justin Watson, Christchurch mayor Phil Mauger and Ilam MP Hamish Campbell to officially open the EV Gigahub.
Drivers stopping by to charge will have easy access to drinks, snacks and barista-made coffee from the convenience store and Wild Bean Cafe at BP Connect Russley Road.
Mahoney says the Gigahub is part of BP’s commitment to support customers with plans to grow based on customer demand.
“Being next to Christchurch Airport, this Gigahub will serve all sorts of EV drivers, whether they’ve hired an EV for their holiday, are rideshare drivers, professionals, or Christchurch locals,” she says.
Through the BP Charge app, drivers can access real-time data on charger availability, pricing and speeds while exploring the network of locations, says BP Charge which has installed 190 EV charge points across New Zealand.
