BYD hits 60,000 unit milestone in Australia
BYD has passed 60,000 vehicle deliveries in Australia, marking the occasion with a handover attended by company chairman and president Wang Chuanfu.
The milestone comes on the heels of a record performance in June, when BYD placed fifth among all car brands nationally with 8,156 monthly deliveries—a 368% year-on-year increase—driven by the success of its plug-in hybrid ute, the BYD Shark 6.
Wang handed over the 60,000th vehicle to Victorian customer Owain Norman at the newly opened BYD Waverley dealership, highlighting the company’s growing local presence and ambitions.
He described Australia as a key market for BYD, praising it as a competitive, advanced environment with a well-informed customer base that values safety, innovation and sustainability.
“Success here is a signal to the world that BYD vehicles can meet and exceed the expectations of mature markets. The learnings we gain from Australia help shape our products and approach globally,” he said.
More than 40,000 additional deliveries are forecast for Australia in 2025.
