Chery reveals local specifications for Stockman plug-in hybrid ute

Chery has released New Zealand specifications for its upcoming Stockman ute ahead of its local launch, confirming a diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain producing 350kW and 800Nm.

While pricing and a launch date are yet to be announced, the Stockman is now listed on Chery New Zealand’s website as “coming soon”.

The ute is powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system. Chery claims combined fuel consumption of 2.0L/100km and an electric-only driving range of up to 100km (NEDC). Battery capacity has yet to be confirmed, although it is expected to feature a 34kWh battery pack.

The Stockman comes standard with four-wheel drive and a low-range transfer case, along with front, centre and rear locking differentials. Off-road features include crawl control and a tight-turn assist function.

Towing capacity is rated at 3.5 tonnes braked and 750kg unbraked.

Measuring 5,450mm long, 2,010mm wide and 1,890mm high, the Stockman has a 3,250mm wheelbase and a cargo tray measuring 1,560mm long by 1,560mm wide.

Suspension comprises a double wishbone front setup and rear leaf springs. While wheel size has yet to be confirmed, Chery says the ute will be fitted with all-terrain tyres as standard.

Inside, the Stockman features suede and leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging and a premium sound system.

Chery New Zealand has yet to announce pricing or confirm when the Stockman will arrive in local showrooms.
