Chevrolet has unveiled the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV line-up while also debuting the new Chevy Blazer EV police pursuit vehicle (PPV), due to go on patrol in the US by 2024.

The police EV is based on the range-topping Chevy Blazer EV SS trim level and features the largest GM Ultium battery pack available to the nameplate.

It could be either rear wheel or all-wheel drive and will feature high-performance Brembo brakes up front.

The interior is designed specifically for police officers, with plenty of room available for emergency equipment and gear, says General Motors (GM).

“The possibilities for the Blazer EV’s commercial and law enforcement applications are almost endless,” says GM Fleet vice president Ed Peper.

“Along with zero-tailpipe-emissions performance, it reduces the number and frequency of certain maintenance requirements typically associated with fleet vehicles.”

GM says the crossover can also be used for fleet and commercial customers like pharmaceutical and rental.

The Chevy Blazer EV PPV may have the Ford Mustang Mach-E as a rival.

Michigan State Police earlier announced that a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E police pilot vehicle has become the first EV to pass the department’s police pilot vehicle tests.

While Ford has not formally announced plans to build a police-specific version of the Mustang Mach-E, at least one US police department and several United Kingdom-based law enforcement agencies have expressed interest.
