China-made Tesla Model 3 deliveries start

The first Model 3 cars have rolled off Tesla’s Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, China.

In a December 30 ceremony, about 15 Model 3s went to Tesla China employees, one proposing marriage during the event and presenting a frunk full of flowers to his bride-to-be.

Mass delivery is expected in the first quarter of 2020, and the factory’s rollout bodes well for Tesla deliveries overall later in the year, Teslarati reports.

The made-in-China Model 3s are reportedly cheaper than Teslas brought into China.

Some media are suggesting a Standard Range Plus Model 3 from the Shanghai factory will sell for about 355,800 yuan (US$50,000) before subsidies and are predicting prices could fall further through cost cutting and using more Chinese made components.
