Civic Contractors goes electric
Electric trucks are arriving for public maintenance company Civic Contractors.
The company has used a $250,000 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) grant for a new Manco EV10 electric rubbish compacting truck for Auckland.

A second electric street-cleaning vehicle will be added to the fleet later in the year.
The Manco EV10 was custom made over a six-month period.
It has a 120kw battery pack and a range of up to 180km with a special charging station at the company’s Otahuhu depot.
It is estimated to save around 14,000kg of carbon emissions per year.
Civic Contractors runs more than 200 vehicles and is aiming to shift the majority of its fleet to electric by 2025.
The company runs services around the North Island for council and commercial clients.
