It has entered committee stages, with Members of Parliament debating final changes to the legislation that enacts the Clean Car Discount and Clean Car Standard.

Transport minister Michael Wood has stood firm that the legislation is fit for purpose, in spite of calls from the Opposition that it places an undue load on the industry and commercial vehicle users.

An amendment proposed by National MP Simeon Brown to exempt disability vehicles – alongside utes and trade vehicles – was declined by Wood, though he confirmed under the existing proposals a ministerial exemption for disability vehicles will be issued.

A further request by Brown that requirements be put in place to have feebate information included in dealer advertising was also refused.
