Coastguard New Zealand targets EV and hybrid fleet

Hyundai New Zealand’s support has ensured 20% of Coastguard New Zealand’s vehicle fleet is now hybrid, with a goal of achieving 80% hybrid or electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026.

Both have newly announced a partnership to support water safety and local communities.

“We are equally passionate about safety on our roads and on the water, making Coastguard New Zealand an ideal partner,” says Hyundai New Zealand chief executive Andy Sinclair.

Hyundai New Zealand has sponsored the Hyundai Marine Sports Centre, supported the 49er sailing class and the Spirit of Adventure programme, so is now helping Coastguard get around New Zealand.

Coastguard New Zealand chief executive Callum Gillespie says the organisation has long admired Hyundai New Zealand’s hands-on approach to re-investing in New Zealand communities, marine education and helping grow young Kiwis.
