Dongfeng details three-model EV lineup for New Zealand launch
Dongfeng has revealed specifications for the three electric vehicles that will spearhead the Chinese brand’s New Zealand launch, with a compact hatch, SUV and sports sedan set to arrive through Armstrong’s Distribution.
The Box, Vigo and 007 models will be available at Armstrong’s retail stores in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch from November, with additional locations planned as the brand expands its local presence.
“Dongfeng offers an affordable entry into the world of electrification with vehicles that provide a rewarding daily driving experience,” Rutherford says.
“It is exciting that Kiwi motorists will now benefit from Dongfeng’s expertise when it comes to highly equipped, innovative technology and advanced ADAS features.”
Dongfeng New Zealand general manager Arek Zywot says the brand aims to redefine value expectations in the local EV market.
Armstrong’s Distribution chief executive Simon Rutherford says the partnership brings affordable electrification to more New Zealand families.
“Dongfeng is redefining value expectations with breakthrough EV technology and a rewarding driving experience all while reducing the costs of access to such capabilities in New Zealand,” Zywot says.
The brand joins New Zealand from a global presence spanning more than 100 countries, positioning itself as an established player in affordable electric mobility.
Urban-focused Box leads the range

Interior space can be adapted for cargo, with the rear seats folding to create 945 litres of loading capacity. The cabin includes soft-touch materials, diamond-pattern dashboard trim and 32-colour ambient lighting options.
The Box delivers 317km of WLTP range and supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. Safety features include a 540-degree surround-view camera system, intelligent parking assist and Level Two driver assistance with adaptive cruise control and emergency braking.
Vigo targets outdoor lifestyle

The Dongfeng Vigo SUV features a two-section tailgate that doubles as a seat or table, plus a flat-fold 2000mm bed for overnight adventures. Vehicle-to-load functionality allows users to power household appliances from the vehicle’s battery.
Storage options include a 500-litre boot, 72-litre hidden compartment and 49-litre front trunk. The Vigo’s 51kWh battery delivers 120kW of power and 340km of WLTP range, with fast charging adding 114km of range in five minutes.

007 delivers sports performance

The Dongfeng 007 fastback coupe will be available in all-wheel drive Performance and rear-wheel drive Long Range variants. The Performance model produces 400kW of power and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The 007 features a 0.209 drag coefficient contributing to efficiency, with the Long Range version delivering up to 520km of WLTP range. Ultra-fast charging capability allows 30-80% charging in 26 minutes.
