‘E-Ray’ an electric Corvette?

An electric Corvette could be coming from General Motors if a trademark it has filed for an “E-Ray” vehicle is anything to go by.

GM has indicated it will have 12 new EVs across its brands but has not mentioned an electric Chevrolet Corvette in its plans.

But GM’s trademark application for an ‘E-Ray’ in the “motor land vehicle” category may be a play on the famous ‘Stingray’ name, Electrek reports.

It adds that Genovation has been working on an electric Corvette since 2016, a prototype recently recording an electric top speed record at 340.85km/h.

US Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has added fuel to the electric Corvette flame by saying he’s been told one is being made that can do 320km/h.

The mention came in a tweet about his 1967 Stingray Corvette during which Biden says he believes the US can own the 21st-century market again by moving to EVs.
