Efficiency gains for updated Mach-E

Ford New Zealand has announced significant updates to the Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle (EV), with the 2025 model year featuring enhanced performance, improved efficiency, and refreshed styling across the range.
The updated models arrive in dealerships from November 2025, with two variants available: the rear-wheel drive Select priced at $74,990 plus on-road costs and the all-wheel drive GT at $116,990 plus on-road costs.
“Ford New Zealand is focused on delivering a compelling package in the expanding electric vehicle market,” says Mathew Slade, Marketing Director for Ford New Zealand. “The MY25 Mustang Mach-E offers enhanced features, striking new design inside and out, along with more power for both the Select and GT variants, and a new, energy efficient heat pump, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation.”
Power boost across the range

The Mach-E GT receives a substantial performance increase, with maximum system power rising to 434kW and torque climbing to 955Nm. The flagship model’s estimated range has also improved to 515km under WLTP testing, supported by a 91kWh usable battery.
The entry-level Select model gains a power increase to 212kW and 525Nm of torque, paired with a 73kWh usable battery delivering an estimated 470km range.
Enhanced charging and thermal management
Charging performance has improved significantly for the GT variant, with DC fast charging times dropping from 45 minutes to 36 minutes when using a 150kW charger to reach 10–80% capacity.
A key contributor to this improvement is the addition of a new heat pump system, which not only improves energy efficiency during cabin heating and cooling but also enhances battery thermal management. The greater cooling power of the system assists with battery temperature control, meaning while peak charging speed remains the same, the vehicle can maintain high charging speeds for longer periods, cutting the 10–80% charging time by 10 minutes.
The Select variant benefits from updated suspension hardware including new sway bars, springs and dampers, aimed at providing improved ride comfort while maintaining the Mach-E’s sporting characteristics.
Styling and feature updates
Interior changes include a new column-mounted shifter replacing the previous rotary gear dial, creating additional centre console storage space. Front seats now feature 10-way power adjustment across both variants, upgraded from the previous 8-way configuration.
The Select model gains several features previously reserved for higher variants, including a panoramic fixed glass roof, power tailgate, and projector beam headlamps with LED daytime running lights.
Eight paint options are available, including six new colours: Eruption Green, Molten Magenta, Terrain, Velocity Blue, Glacier Grey, and Grabber Yellow, alongside existing Shadow Black and Star White options.
The model has been absent from the New Zealand market in recent months as Ford ran out existing stock under a discounted extended test drive programme. New Zealand misses out on a midrange extended range Premium model that is available in Australia.
The updated 2025 Mustang Mach-E is available to order now from Ford dealers, with customer deliveries beginning this month.
We will have a first drive and video online next Thursday.
