Electric Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet concept unveiled

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled an electric convertible version of its Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept car in Monterey, California.

It’s based on the original coupe concept announced at last year’s car show there.
The e-Maybach concept is nearly six metres long, 2.1m wide and 1.34m high.

The car has a bold grille, sweeping bonnet, rearward seating position, 24-inch centre lock wheels, extended boat tail style rear, two-tone paint and a luxurious interior with the latest in touch sensitive controls and digital displays featuring traditional analogue needles. The fabric roof incorporates gold threads, Stuff reports.

“The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet is the perfect embodiment of our design strategy,” Mercedes-Benz chief design officer Gorden Wagener says.

An electric driveline would provide 550kW via four compact electric motors acting independently on each wheel. It could get to 100kmh in less than four seconds and reach 250kmh.
A lithium-ion battery is mounted within the floorplan, expected to provide the two-seater with a 500km range. A quick charge function, running at up to 350kW, may add up to 100km after five minutes’ charging.
