EV benefits explained in Palmerston North

Flip the Fleet’s Henrik Moller is speaking to Palmerston North’s fleet owners before addressing a public meeting about the benefits of going electric on May 31.

The University of Otago’s Centre for Sustainability professor emeritus was invited by Palmerston North City Council logistics and support manager Paul Compton to talk to fleet operators about making the EV transition, Stuff reports.

Flip the Fleet citizen science coalition member Moller wants to help people learn more about EVs and their cost ratio benefits.

His public talk at the Palmerston North Central Library events space at 5.30pm is titled Electric vehicles: Good for people, the planet and your purse?

EV rides and drivers are offered after the meeting, while Drive EV can help with Nissan Leaf clock adjustments and cluster language conversions on site.

Moller’s talks follow the release of a Drive Electric whitepaper on May 29 called Building an Electric Fleet: A How to Guide for Businesses Considering Transitioning to Electric Vehicles.

At that event it was announced that EVs had just reached 8025 in New Zealand – passing the 8000 EV target initially set for the end of 2018 towards the goal of 64,000 EVs by the end of 2021.

About 10% of those owners submit monthly data on their EV’s performance, costs, benefits and battery to Flip the Fleet’s communal database.
