EV Maritime to address diplomatic study tour
EV Maritime chief executive Michael Eaglen is due to address 44 foreign diplomats on an Auckland showcase tour on February 1-3.

“I’ll be speaking about EV Maritime’s sustainability story: how we partner with the world’s harbour cities and their public transport operators to enable their local boat building community to deliver pre-engineered electric ferries to international standards, both to accelerate decarbonisation and to build capability in tomorrow’s technologies,” he explains.
The tour has been postponed because of Auckland’s weather issues but no new dates have yet been announced.
EV Maritime is associated with Auckland’s electric ferry developments.
The diplomatic mission hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) feature a different region each year, the Auckland tour focussing on Maori economy and culture, tech and innovation, sustainability and climate change (the latter appropriate with Auckland’s recent flooding), aerospace, international education, and infrastructure.
The tour is an opportunity to tell a region’s story, present key industries and sectors, highlight trade and investment opportunities, strengthen international links, and showcase New Zealand innovation, cuisine and culture, Tataki Auckland Unlimited says.
It takes in Glen Innes, the Wynyard Quarter, the University of Auckland, Tataki Auckland Unlimited (where Eaglen will talk on February 2) and the opening of the Auckland Lantern Festival in Manukau on the evening of February 2, the festival now also cancelled due to the wet weather.
