FE driver Mitch Evans signs multi-year deal with Jaguar Racing

Kiwi ABB FIA Formula E driver Mitch Evans will continue with Jaguar Racing under a multi-year agreement.

Evans, 27, has already been with the team five years and finished third in the recent London E-Prix.

He is eighth in the driver standings for the 2021 season just behind fellow countryman Nick Cassidy who drives for Envision Virgin Racing, while Evans’ teammate Sam Bird is third.

Ahead of his 62nd race with Jaguar Racing – the Berlin E-Prix on August 14 and 15 – Evans is determined to bring more points and podiums to the team.

Evans’ re-signing with the team follows confirmation Jaguar Racing has committed to the Formula E Gen3 era as part of Jaguar’s journey to becoming an all-electric brand from 2025.

The Kiwi has won two races, been on the podium 10 times and is keen to propel the team to the top of the championship during the upcoming seasons.

“We are very pleased to confirm that Mitch will remain a key part of Jaguar Racing’s driver line-up, extending his long-standing and integral role in the team,” Jaguar Racing team director James Barclay says.  

“Mitch’s speed and on-track results in Formula E speak for themselves and we have continued to build a formidable partnership year-on-year since he joined our team in 2016.”

Evans says he has been approached by other teams but wants to stay with Jaguar.

“We are seeing strong results on track, the Jaguar I-Type 5 boasts excellent performance and we are ready to rival anyone on the grid.

“There is still everything to play for this season and going forward into the future with Jaguar Racing.”

The Jaguar Racing Formula E team is third in the ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship – only nine points behind first placed Envision Virgin Racing.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Berlin is the final race weekend of season seven with both drivers’ and teams’ championships still to be decided.

Season eight starts with the Diriyah E-Prix in Saudi Arabia on January 28 and 29 next year, featuring 16 races in 12 locations.
