Fiat pauses EV sales in New Zealand

Fiat has paused sales of its electric passenger vehicles in New Zealand as parent company Stellantis reviews future product opportunities for the local market.

The move mirrors a decision announced in Australia this week, where Stellantis confirmed it would not place further orders for the Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e after existing stock was largely sold.

A spokesperson for Ateco, Fiat’s New Zealand distributor, confirmed the local market is following the same approach.

The pause affects Fiat’s electric passenger vehicle range only, with petrol models and the Fiat Professional commercial vehicle line-up unaffected.

That means the Scudo and Ducato vans will continue to be offered in New Zealand.

Stellantis says it is assessing future product opportunities as part of its ongoing portfolio planning process.

“We remain focused on ensuring the vehicles we bring to Australia meet customers’ expectations,” the company says.

The company adds that, following Stellantis’ recent confirmation of Fiat as one of its core global brands, it remains optimistic about the brand’s future.
