Ford confirms 830Nm Mustang Mach-E GT for NZ
Ford New Zealand has confirmed that three versions of the brand’s fully electric Mustang Mach-E are heading to local showrooms in 2023. And the line-up includes the hotted up Mach-E GT.
New Zealand is set to get two battery options, the 75.7kWh unit and the whopping 98.7kWh battery, as well as the choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The range will kick off with the Mach-E RWD, sold exclusively with rear-wheel drive and the 75.7kWh battery, with range rated at 440km.
Next is the Mustang Mach-E AWD. It’s the most affordable way to get the larger battery and the longest range variant of the group, with range rated at 540km.
Leading the range is the more performance orientated Mach-E GT. It also gets the larger battery, but range falls to 500km.
Pricing for the trio is still to be confirmed, with Ford saying that it will be announced soon. The announcement is likely to come alongside online orders for the model being opened up to the public.
Power and torque figures are also yet to be confirmed, although overseas the 75kWh variant produces 190kW/415Nm and the AWD 98kWh model 248kW/565Nm.
The GT, meanwhile, 358kW of power and a staggering 830Nm of peak torque. This can see the plug-in SUV hit 100km/h in a claimed 3.8 seconds.
“Mustang Mach-E was developed from the ground up to deliver the character and performance of our iconic Mustang sports car,” says Ford New Zealand managing director Simon Rutherford.
“It delivers that unique Mustang exhilaration and experience but in full EV mode with a host of impressive technologies and incredible performance.”
Ford New Zealand is already in the process of future proofing its dealer network with charging hardware in the build up to the Mach-E’s arrival.
“There is certainly a lot to take in whenever a new vehicle is launched let alone an entirely new powertrain technology and platform like the Mach-E,” Rutherford adds.
“We are gearing up to help our dealership teams at every level become Mach-E and EV experts, helping to ensure when a customer emails, calls or walks in with questions, they’ll get the information they need.
“It’s an exciting time for everyone and we’re all looking forward to the Mach-E’s arrival”
