Free e-bike courses offered by AT
Auckland Transport (AT) has a winter adult bike skills programme which includes e-bike courses following a fully booked out summer series.
Cycling through the winter months is easy if you know how, says Auckland Transport, which offers a range of free bike skills training courses, including those for adults and children.
These include those starting their cycling journey, looking to progress to riding on the road, or wanting to learn some handy bike maintenance tips.
“We offer courses for every ability level from beginner through to advanced, as well as bike maintenance and e-bike specific courses,” AT says.
Attendees can bring their own bike and helmet along, or AT can provide one to get riders started.
The “E-bike Experience” introduces electric bikes and includes a guided ride, while skills and maintenance are also taught.
Bike skills courses are set at various levels from bronze (beginners) to gold (advanced).
Registration is required for all courses to attend due to limited capacity and close at least 48 hours prior.
Due to health and safety and instructor ratios, the venue address will be supplied upon registration alongside any other further details.
Courses run mainly at weekends (with bike maintenance workshops including some weekdays).
For instance, a bronze bike skills session runs on Sunday June 27, 10am-noon, in Glen Eden, while an e-bike maintenance skills workshop is on Tuesday August 10, 10am-noon, in Auckland’s CBD.
