Geely ready for Australian EX5 launch

Geely has opened pre-orders of its EX5 electric SUV in Australia.

The EX5 is in Australia this week, reportedly arriving in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

EVs and Beyond is checking out the new EV.

Geely is also in New Zealand, offered through the Giltrap Group.

Geely has spent the past year ensuring the new EX5 performs on Australian roads, and Geely Auto Australia head Li Lei says Geely is “extremely proud” of the work the Australian team has done to make the Geely EX5 fit-for-purpose.

He says adjustments will deliver a smoother ride over rough surfaces, improved stability for long-distance journeys, and the durability to handle variable loads.

Testing has also allowed fine tuning of the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

EX5 safety features include seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane-keep assist, driver monitoring, evasive manoeuvre assist, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, and intelligent cruise control.

Geely Auto announced a strategic partnership with Giltrap Group in November 2024.

The Geely EX5 will be the first model to enter the New Zealand market, followed by a complete range of power trains, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), range-extended and petrol-powered vehicles.

An extensive network covering showrooms throughout New Zealand will be opening throughout 2025, supporting the long-term commitment of both Geely and Giltrap Group.
