Global megawatt charging experts in NZ webinar

Drive Electric webinar on Megawatt Charging August 13, 2024

Drive Electric, with Singer Electric’s support, hosts four global experts on megawatt charging for heavy vehicles at an online event on Tuesday August 13, 2024, at 4pm.

Switching a medium-sized diesel truck to a battery electric version is the equivalent of removing 27 internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger vehicles off the road, in terms of CO2 emissions, says Drive Electric, adding that big trucks need bigger chargers, as do electric boats and planes, with the answer Megawatt Charging Systems (MCS).

MCS has the potential to deliver enough power to fully charge an electric truck in less than 30 minutes, says Drive Electric.

“This is a significant breakthrough, as it enables long-haul electric trucks to recharge quickly during mandatory rest breaks and is similar to the time it would take for a conventional truck to refuel.

‘This fast-charging capability can reach up to 3.75 megawatts.”

Dreive Electric says the webinar aims to provide an international perspective on MCS developments and the relevance to New Zealand.

“The event will include a case study about the world-first MCS installation in Auckland to support the electrification of Auckland’s ferry fleet.”

Speakers are ABB Marine and Ports ferries segment manager Palemia Field (ABB, Finland), extreme high-power charging company Grivix (Switzerland) chief executive Marc-Andre Beck, Singer Electric NZ representative Hayden Dooney, and CharIN Australia New Zealand managing director Liz Yeaman.
