Guide for Kombi owners to go electric
KEV the Kombi Electric Vehicle is at the National Fieldays in Mystery Creek until June 17.
The e-Kombi is on the Volkswagen stand, the electric conversion of the classic 1966 Kombi van an example of an open source online ‘Greenprint’ guide for anyone wanting to revolutionise their classic.
Once used by the Dunedin Health Board, KEV has been restored and repowered with a new heart, fuelled by clean energy.
The guide delivers a how-to plan for passionate owners to convert their own Volkswagen vehicle to fully electric.
“I know Kombi owners are super passionate about their vehicles, so it’s great to share our journey and plans required to turn their classic into a full EV,” says VW Special Vehicles manager Max van den Bergen.
“When almost half (47%) of Kiwis are likely considering and EV for their next vehicle, we’re thrilled to offer a range of electric and PHEV vehicles along with one that’s slightly more unexpected.”
The Volkswagen Greenprint is available here.
