GWM Ora becomes NZ’s most affordable EV
GWM has cut $2,000 from the entry-level Ora Lux, making it the cheapest new electric vehicle on sale in New Zealand at $35,990 until the end of 2025.
The revised sticker undercuts the model’s usual $37,990 RRP — previously level with the Fiat 500e, now the second-least-expensive EV.
GWM’s local arm says the discount marks the Ora’s “reintroduction to the local market.”
The Ora Lux pairs a 57.7kWh LFP battery with a front-mounted 126kW/250Nm motor driving the front wheels. GWM quotes up to 400km (WLTP) of range and a 0–100km/h time of about nine seconds.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloys, faux-leather seats and a 10.25-inch infotainment display. Tested in 2022, the Ora received a five-star safety rating. GWM covers the car with a seven-year warranty and five years of roadside assist.
The Ora GT sits above the Lux from $38,990. It retains the 126kW front-drive layout and lists 380km (WLTP) range, adding a panoramic sunroof, hands-free tailgate and sport-themed exterior trim.
