Health NZ Whanganui trialling BYD Dolphin

Health NZ Whanganui wants to gradually switch to a cleaner, more efficient car fleet for the hospital and is trialling a BYD Dolphin EV.

After spending a week on the road with the district nursing team, the BYD Dolphin has been made available to other departments at Whanganui Hospital for their feedback and evaluation.

Health NZ Whanganui’s facilities management team is seeking honest and forthright feedback from community-based staff to ensure the vehicle is fit for purpose.

It says the benefits of switching to an electric vehicle include greater safety features, savings on energy costs, and the elimination of fuel cards.

Health NZ Whanganui has recently installed charging stations on campus and has a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) for longer distances stationed at the Waimarino Health Centre.

As stock becomes available, Health NZ Whanganui will gradually introduce EVs into its car fleet. This phased approach will allow it to adapt to the new technology and ensure a smooth transition.
