Honda previews pint-sized Super EV concept ahead of Goodwood debut

Honda has unveiled a tiny electric city car concept, dubbed the Super EV, set to make its public debut at next month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Despite the name, the Super EV is anything but large — it’s a compact runabout aimed squarely at the small EV segment currently dominated by the likes of the VW ID.2, BYD Seagull, Fiat 500e, and Citroën e-C3.

The model is expected to replace the slow-selling Honda e, which drew praise for its retro charm but struggled in global markets due to its high price and limited range.

First hinted at during CES 2025, the Super EV has now taken clearer form. Honda has shared a single teaser image, showing the concept’s Kei-car-like proportions and minimalist design. Visual cues include circular LED headlights, a flat nose, and an offset charging port. Its long wheelbase and pushed-out wheels suggest clever use of space inside — a hallmark of Honda’s small-car engineering.

The brand says the Super EV will be both practical and “a joy to drive”, indicating a continued focus on driver engagement despite its urban focus. It will appear at Goodwood alongside two other headline Hondas: the returning Prelude coupe and the swansong Civic Type R Ultimate Edition.

While the production version of the Super EV won’t use Honda’s new 0 Series EV platform — which underpins the upcoming 0 Saloon and six other models due by 2030 — a compact SUV on that platform is expected in Asian markets.

At this stage, the Super EV’s production version is likely to be sold in Japan and China. Honda hasn’t confirmed whether it will reach Europe or other global markets — but given the growing appetite for affordable urban EVs, it may yet become more than just a regional offering.
