Hyundai’s first high-performance EV the Ioniq 5 N is now available in New Zealand priced from $134,990 (plus on-road costs).

Its exterior design reflects the all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain’s 448kW/740Nm output – 478kW/770Nm with N Grin Boost (NGB) deployed.

EV-specific innovations include N Active Sound+ and N e-Shift, along with many other customisation features.

“The Ioniq 5 N is a car we are immensely excited about introducing to the New Zealand market,” says Hyundai New Zealand chief executive Scott Kelsey.

“We have developed a loyal following amongst electric vehicle enthusiasts since we launched the original Ioniq back in 2017.”

This ground-breaking performance car showcases Hyundai N’s three core principles: Everyday Sportscar, Corner Rascal, and Racetrack Capability, says the brand.

N-exclusive bumpers, wheel arch extensions, 21-inch wheels, a rear spoiler are included while N Light sports front seats, steering wheel, console with lateral support, pedals and footrest are optimised for convenient daily use.

The Ioniq 5 N’s body, cooling architecture, friction and regenerative braking systems, axle design and geometry are all reworked from the Ioniq 5.

N Drift Optimizer, N Pedal and N Launch Control deliver a fun circuit driving experience, while N-exclusive features such as N Torque Distribution also support track driving.

The Ioniq 5 N is offered in a single fully equipped variant with the option of a fixed glass vision roof and is 80mm longer, 50mm wider and 20mm lower than the Ioniq 5.

Its 84kWh battery provides an estimated 448km range (WLTP) and can charge in 25 minutes on DC 300kW fast charging (10% to 80%), one hour and 10 minutes on DC 50kW, and about 10 hours and 50 minutes on AC 7kW charging (10% to 100%).

Its top speed in 260km/h and the Ioniq 5 N can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 3.5/3.4 seconds (NGB).

A range of colours is available.
