Kia confirms PV5 electric van pricing ahead of Q3 NZ launch

Kia New Zealand has confirmed pricing for its highly anticipated PV5 electric van, with the first Cargo model due to arrive this quarter priced from $64,990 plus on-road costs.

The PV5 marks Kia’s entry into New Zealand’s electric light commercial vehicle market and is the first model in the brand’s planned electric van line-up, with the larger PV7 and PV9 expected to follow in the coming years.

Kia New Zealand managing director Todd McDonald said expanding into the commercial sector was the natural next step for the brand.

“With the widest EV range in the passenger and SUV segment, it made sense for the natural progression of our range to enter the commercial market,” he said.

McDonald said the PV5 had attracted strong interest from both commercial operators and private buyers looking for a spacious, practical electric vehicle.

“We have confirmed the impending arrival of the Cargo (Five-Door and Six-Door), Passenger Seven-Seat, followed by the Cargo High Roof (Five-Door and Six-Door) configuration in early 2027,” he said.

The Cargo Five-Door will be the first variant to arrive, with the Six-Door version available for an additional $500. Pricing for the seven-seat passenger model will be announced closer to launch.

Power comes from a front-mounted 120kW electric motor producing 250Nm, paired with a 71.2kWh battery. Kia says the PV5 offers a WLTP driving range of up to 416km and can recharge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

The PV5 will also be available with an optional 22kW onboard charger, which Kia says will help reduce charging times for business customers. The company is backing the van with a seven-year manufacturer’s warranty and a two-year/30,000km service interval as part of its total cost of ownership proposition.

Standard features include vehicle-to-load capability, a 12.9-inch infotainment display with satellite navigation, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Kia Connect connectivity and over-the-air software updates. Safety technology includes forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, and blind spot collision avoidance assist.

The PV5 Cargo offers 4420 litres of cargo space and a payload of up to 690kg, enough to accommodate two Euro pallets. It measures 4495mm long, 1895mm wide and 1899mm high, with a 2995mm wheelbase.
