Kia lowers price of entry level EV6 models
Kia has made a second adjustment to the prices of its two most accessible fully electric EV6 models; the Air Standard Range and Air Long Range.
Previously, the pair had been privy to a pricing increase, with each raised from $72,990 and $78,990 to $77,990 and $83,990, respectively.
Now, Kia has partially rolled back those increases. The entry-level Air Standard Range is now $73,990, with the bigger battery Air once again $78,990.
The tweak is a critical one for the nameplate, as it once again ensures that the most affordable long-range variant qualifies for the government’s $8,625 Clean Car Discount.
The standard range Air comes with a 58kWh battery, good for a claimed range of 373km. The long range gets a 77.4kWh battery, and can travel approximately 528km per charge.
This makes it one of the few competitors in the EV segment with more than 500km of range that qualifies for a Clean Car rebate.
The other two grades in the line-up, the Earth and GT-Line, are unchanged in terms of pricing; each being available for $99,990 and $111,990, respectively.
The EV6 was one of Kia’s strongest sellers in August. It was the ninth best-selling vehicle for the month with 354 registrations, ranking it seventh in the passenger vehicle sales charts.
It was a big month for electric vehicle sales, with four pure plug-ins (including the EV6) cracking the national top 10.
The Tesla Model 3 was third overall and first in the passenger car segment, just ahead of its Model Y cousin (fifth overall), the new BYD Atto 3 (sixth overall), and the EV6.
