Kia to unveil entry-level EV2 hatch in early 2026
Kia will unveil its new entry-level EV2 hatchback at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, 2026, positioning the model as the most affordable electric vehicle in the brand’s line-up.
The EV2 is aimed at competitors including the BYD Atto 1 and Dongfeng Box, and is intended to serve as a gateway to emissions-free motoring for Kia customers. Teaser images released by the brand show the new model adopting the squared-off design language seen on the EV3, EV5 and flagship EV9.
The preview also highlights low-set lighting signatures at the front and rear, a design approach reminiscent of the latest Hyundai Santa Fe. Its overall shape appears similar to the current Kia Picanto, which is sold exclusively with petrol power.
While Kia has not revealed powertrain specifics, the EV2 will use the company’s modular E-GMP electric platform. Based on the EV3’s specifications, the EV2 is expected to be offered with a smaller battery and single-motor configuration.
The EV3 delivers around 430km (WLTP) from its 58kWh battery and produces 150kW from a front-mounted motor, and the EV2 is anticipated to sit in a similar performance range.

Interior details remain unconfirmed, but overseas reports suggest the EV2 may adopt the EV3’s layout, including a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment display.
“With the EV2, we reaffirm our commitment to make electric mobility truly accessible to a broader audience – without compromise,” Kia Europe president and chief executive Marc Hedrich says.
Kia will also display GT versions of the EV3, EV4 hatchback and EV5 alongside the EV2 at the Brussels show.
