Korean spy website reveals Staria EV prototype

Staria-EV-Protoype-002

AKorean website Autospy has shared pictures of what appears to be an electric version of the Hyundai Staria people mover.

The Autopsy pictures show the Staria EV prototype has a much shorter rear overhang than the current ICE versions. The tail section is quite different to the design of the current Staria variants.

The prototype displays a mostly closed-off grille housing a charging port and the slim, rectangular-style headlight clusters from the Korean-market Staria Lounge.

Finished in a two-tone paint job, this Staria prototype also lacks any fuel filler door—suggesting a pure electric rather than plug-in hybrid setup.

According to a June 2024 report by The Korea Economic Daily, Hyundai intends to build the Staria EV in Europe starting in the first half of 2026. Plans include selling it in Europe and Asia-Pacific markets like New Zealand and Australia.

An 84kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NCM) battery with a claimed 324km of range is on the cards, placing the Staria EV in competition with Europe’s Ford E-Tourneo and Volkswagen ID: Buzz and Chinese electric MPVs such as the LDV MIFA 9 and Zeekr 009.
