Austrian start-up Kreisel Electric has fitted several prominent European EVs with its own battery pack, significantly increasing the vehicles’ range.

The three Kreisel brothers managed to double the energy density of every car they retrofitted, including a Porsche Panamera, a Skoda Yeti and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, electrek.com reported.

Its latest battery for the VW e-Golf, could make it to production, although it is unclear if the company has a partnership with VW or it would be produced as an aftermarket product.

Volkswagen’s 2017 e-Golf can reportedly travel 199km on a single charge.

However with a Kreisel battery, the 2016 e-Golf can travel 321km on a single charge.

Kreisel explains that it uses a cooling system, which tempers the battery in the e-Golf, keeping it between 25°C and 30°C.

“Particularly at high charging capacities, the battery life can be considerably extended and wear phenomena can be reduced.”
