LDV e-ute and Tesla Model Y in Whangarei EV Expo
Three EV display sites have been reserved for the latest EVs in New Zealand at the Whangarei EV Expo on Saturday August 20 in the Whangarei Growers Market, while there will also be the latest EVs on display across the street at the Northland Regional Council carpark.
The expo is run in conjunction with the Whangarei Growers’ Market (6am-10am) at 17 Water Street and continues from 10am to noon with an opportunity to ask questions from local EV drivers about owning an EV.

“There is a lot of interest in EVs, especially with fuel prices, and we are excited about the arrival of the first electric ute in New Zealand, the LDV eT60,” says expo co-organiser and long-time EV advocate Joe Camuso.
“We have reserved three spots at the market – the LDV e-ute, Tesla Model Y and another popular EV in the higher foot-traffic area. This will allow us to direct interested people to the extra parking with a wider variety of EVs parked at the NRC office where people can ask questions.”
Demonstrations includes destination slow charging and a Tesla supercharger, while ChargeNet EV chargers are also nearby.
A question-and-answer session may be held after the market depending on demand at the NRC offices, adds Camuso who is the council’s rivers programme manager and EV advocate.
EV expert Camuso, the 2019 NZ EV Enthusiast of the Year, will also be on hand to talk to.
