Leapmotor B05 hatch to debut at Fieldays

The all-electric Leapmotor B05 will make its New Zealand debut at Fieldays, with the compact hatchback set to be unveiled at the Leapmotor stand throughout the duration of the event.
The B05 represents a departure from the electric vehicle (EV) market’s current focus on sport utility vehicles, positioning itself as a compact hatch that will compete directly with models like the BYD Atto 1.
New Zealand specifications for the B05 are yet to be confirmed, but the model offers battery options ranging from 52kWh to 67kWh in its home market. The vehicle delivers a WLTP range of between 360km and 430km depending on the battery configuration.
Charging and performance specifications

The B05 supports DC fast charging at rates up to 150kW, allowing the battery to charge from 1% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. All variants use a rear-mounted electric motor, with power outputs spanning 132kW to 180kW across the range.
Inside, the B05 features a 14.6-inch infotainment screen paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, following current industry trends toward large touchscreen interfaces.
The Fieldays debut will give New Zealand consumers their first opportunity to examine the B05 in person, as Leapmotor looks to establish its presence in the local EV market. The compact hatchback segment has seen limited electric options compared to the SUV category, which has dominated recent EV launches in New Zealand.
Final pricing and local specification details are expected to be announced closer to the vehicle’s official market launch.
