Chinese automotive brand Lepas has confirmed it will enter the New Zealand market with its L6 electric SUV.

The brand is part of the Chery Group and will join Chery and Omoda Jaecoo in New Zealand.

The L6 is a mid-size electric SUV powered by a 65kWh battery, with a claimed driving range of up to 450km.

Power comes from a single electric motor producing 160kW and 275Nm of torque.

Inside, the L6 features a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Confirmation of the New Zealand launch follows an announcement that Lepas will enter the Australian market, with the L6 expected to arrive there during the fourth quarter of 2026.

“The Lepas L6 represents an exciting new chapter for our business and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to bringing innovative, technology-driven vehicles to Australian customers,” says Lepas Australia chief operating officer Lucas Harris.

“As demand for electric vehicles continues to grow locally, the Lepas L6 will offer Australian buyers a compelling combination of sophisticated design, intelligent features and everyday usability within the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.”

Based on the Australian launch timing, the L6 could reach New Zealand showrooms during 2027.
